Helmet idea

Racing along the trail today my attention caught the volume of wind noise rushing past my helmet and ears. Now mabe its my helmet , a Giro, but the wind noise can get a bit distracting, I confess when I'm out on a easy ride I never use a helmet and the wind factor is less noticeable.
I had a idea that of a helmet or attachment being designed with an ear flap in plastic that tapered out from the front thus directing the air from flowing across your ear. The advantage would be less wind noise, warmer ears esp needed in winter and rear sounds ie cars approaching from behind would appear louder, kinda like a audio mirror.
Am I a genius or what?

+ 1 for the black horny would certainly cheer up the cold club runs and give us something to chuckle at.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0

Hate to burst your bubble, but this has been tried - way back in the early '90s, I remember a similar product being marketed. There was a review in Mountain Biker International IIRC, basically they were a pair of clip-on plates that attached to your helmet straps, and made you look like Mr Spock. Funnily enough, I never saw a pair anywhere...Old hockey players never die - they just smell that way...0

I cannot find a valid link at the moment but have a look here www.bikeforums.net/archive/index.php/t-69022.html
I tried some small plastic gizmos to put on your helmet straps from South Africa. They didn't really work as well as I expected and I did think a better design was possible.

Isn't most of the noise from the air whipping through the vents and the straps?0

I wear a full face lid so it isn't a problem for me but the protec full cuts or snow lids have ear protection.-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford? :roll:0 -
If I could choose a helmet style to blast about on the trails with....I'd choose....
