Specialized Shoe Sizing...

Hi all,
Wondered if anyone could give me tips for sizing on Specialized shoes.
I'm helping a mate get kitted out for a sponsored ride we're doing and he's lacking in cycling footwear. He's not willing to make the change to clipless pedals so is looking for a flat shoe - only slight problem is that he's a size 14 and there aren't many companies that cater for humongous people.
Specialized do a flat cycling shoe in a 49 but I know sizing can be a bit hit and miss so thought I'd ask your sizing experiences (buy bigger, buy smaller etc)
This is probably more suited to MTB area but I feel more at home here
Thanks!

i have size 45 Spesh MTB shoes and size 45 Shimano Road shoes and the shimano's still feel bigger which would indicate to me that spesh may be slightly smaller made....though this may not be the case for everyone..0

I have Specialized road shoes and also Specialized Tahoe shoes. Both shoes are a size bigger than I take in a normal shoe. LBS where I got the road shoes from said it was normal for people to need a bigger size than they would normally take.0

ah cool, I suspected it could be the case, I had vague recollection of trying on some specialized shoes and them being neat - but I've tried a lot of shoes on over the last few years so didn't know if my brain was playing tricks! Cheers for the info guys.0

I have 3 different pairs of Specialized shoes, from both ends of the range and they're all a size bigger than my 'normal' shoes.0

Specialized are narrowish compared to other shoes. I took my usual size and they're fine although they do start to have a few hot spots after a while.0

Damn! It's never simple with road shoes! Right, I've ordering them, he's either losing a toe or wearing thick socks...0

To be honest i would say they are spot on to maybe a fraction big for their size. i am 42/43 in almost everything except Sec shoes which are 42.0

+1 They're what they say, IME, no need to size up.0
