Hi Guys,
Need your help.
Just bought new wheels for my old GT commuter.
One day I think they look great the next day I'm not sure then the next day look great again etc.
Would like to let you guys decide and I will go with whatever gets most votes.
I don't have any theft worries as my bike is allowed in my place of work and it's locked up at home.
Is it OTT or not.
I'm getting mixed comments from workmates etc.
I'm planning to put red V8 pedals on and maybe red Oury grips or Ergon grips.
Ergon's are winning at the moment due to the comfort aspect.

  • Personally I don't like the graphics but that's just my opinion. I am curious though (unrelated from post) - but why do you have a single speed conversion? Does that not become a pain? :)

  • Hi mossmotorsport,
    Thank you for your reply.

So that's one for graphics off.

The reason I converted to single speed is because I use the bike for commuting 5 miles e/w and my commute is totally flat.

The bike has now become so much lighter and the maintainance is almost zero.
Wash bike once a week and clean and relube chain.

It's the best thing I've done but would not recommend it if your commute is hilly or you want to take it to the trails.

    Regards

    I say keep 'em.

Yes they look a bit lairy but they work with the bike. If you're thinking of adding more red bits it will all tie in nicely.

I think you'd regret taking them off.

  • Thank's Rob,
    That's 1-1
I,m also thinking red skewers and a red seat post clamp.

Try www.slikgraphics.com for different coloured ones that match better (prob have to custom order them), changed mine ZTR's from red/black to blue/white and it looks way better.
  • graphics off buddy sorry, good wheels im sure but bit too flash for me
  • Graphics look cool, but bike doesnt tie in with it. Id get black n red grips and saddle maybe. Possibly add bit of red trim to blend it all in so the wheels dont look so loud by themselves.
pain is weakness leaving the body...
  • If it were mine I'd take them off, but if you like them, then keep them. It doesn't matter if a million people say they don't like them...as long as you do!

  • Hi Guys ,

I'm making it 5-4 in favour of remove graphics.

In response to keep them if you like them , that's the problem one day I think they look good then the next I don't.

When the post goes stale I'll go with what wins.

  • OFF!!!!

unless you add a lot more red else where!

    But thats only an opinion!

    :D
    Wheeze..... Gasp..... Ruddy hills.......
  • I would wait until you have added your other red parts as you might find you every thing ties in just right

I would add the red bits you are going to add and then make a decision. Hwrd to tell without them there.

    Why don't YOU decide?
  • Hi Guys

I really appreciate your opinions good or bad.

I figured the best people to tell me would be guys who are into cycling because i'm undecided if I like them or not.

The score is 7 - 4 in favour of off with the graphics.

I know there will be members who couldn't care less if I keep them on or remove them
but I am only having a bit of fun and I do value your opinions.

When the topic goes stale and no replies in 48 hours I will take whatever action the members decide.
  • If I were you I'd wait till you'd added your other bits in red. That way if it looks good you don't need to worry about doing anything else, whereas if it still looks odd you can take them off then.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
  • More is more. Keep them on

(Then again I own a cube so Im biased towards larey)

I normally love wheel graphics, but in this case I think they look bad and don't fit at all.

Having said that, my advice is keep them, for now. Do your upgrades and then see if you still feel unsure.
