BIO RACER or GIORDANA, works for me.0

From my studies at uni i have focussed a lot on the cycling industry in practice (im studying marketing) and it is hugely driven by the perception of quality of the consumer. And the element of "belle en selle" looking good. again another perception.
People will pay what they think is due in relation to their perceptions of the brand, product and other things to name a few.0 -

get good shorts but low end are fine, shoes from aldi or decathlon commonly seen on club runs. Shirts , base layers, gloves, waterproof and helmit from aldi or lidl. add a t-shirt if needed.
You won't look like james bond but you can go as fast as anyone.

If you are looking for a good price base layer you could do a lot worse than a primark thermal. They are light, long sleeved, amazingly warm for how thin they are and they have thumb holes. All for 9 quid. Bargain.0

Well, I think "value for money" and "noticeable difference" are different things. My Assos shorts (Uno - so their low end) are noticeably different to others I've had from Pearl, Lusso, Endura, dhb - and in my view also value for money because of comfort and longevity.
I have one pair which is going slightly baggy after about 6 years, but I still prefer them to others brands in the drawer.0 -
I do like Endura, I know my size and you can get good deals online. I have had a pair of Humvee shorts and trousers for over 5 years and wash with Nikwax and they are fine. That said my Crane Sport (AlDI) blue £11 waterproof is foldable and does the job.
Starting road cycling and bought Endura bib longs and a top, only becuase I dont think Aldi will do another bike bonanza before xmas and I wanted to get started - they will last though!'The hills are alive with the sounds of panting'

There is so much more choice in the cycling kit world than when I started 30 years ago - so they have differentiated into niche markets.
Some of the top end kit is pretty much indefensible as to its expense, but it is marketed beautifully. At the bottom end - theres fantastic kit that I reckon is cheaper than it was a few years back. You dont need to spend a fortune on stuff if you dont want to.0 -
As in life people different brands make the same goods for which do the same job but at vastly different prices and marketed accordingly.
Personally I do believe that the more you pay the better quality you are going to get, which is all the more important in something like a pair of shorts as you need to feel comfortable and they need fit well and last for a good length of time.
There are also your local club's to consider too who will probably have their own team kit and often dont charge to make a profit or a very small one to cover their costs.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

I love Castelli it looks the bollox and the quality is top notch.
Can always be found going cheap at the end of the seasonal collections.0
