Back to the Dark Side - amusing day

Got the MTB out for the first time since I got my roadbike today, so I made a point of using all the farm tracks and trails I haven't been able to use since 'summer' - muddy as chuff and the sliding around from having Spesh Hemispheres on, and even a couple of offs in foot deep puddles had me laughing and grinning ear-to-ear  I cannot wait to try Cyclo Cross proper

Got asked for directions by a young Polish guy in a White van delivering for Amazon, he was 10 miles the wrong way down a singletrack road which was closed due to a flooded ford, and after putting him right he repaid me by passing on the main road about 2 inches from my bars: cheers Maciek

After that coming up the Ouse Valley Way, a woman's Weimaraner trotted past with a branch about 4 foot long, pushing me into the undergrowth while giving me such a nonchalant look :D Half a mile further a low hanging bramble perfectly plucked my beanie from my head and hung it out to dry

All in all a great day, but fear not I'm still a committed novice roadie, no doubt

It's nice to get off road now and then. I did a night run tonight, cold but mainly dry. I was going down hill at a fair pace and disturbed a fully grown female red deer who was having a bite to eat at the side of the path, almost collided with me when she ran off!
