Hi Guys,

I bought a Dave Hinds 7.9 because I thought I could do with the added help with climbing. I have loved the bike when I tried my mates finding it very responsive and light and I have nothing but good things to say now I own one myself.

Weirdly though I also experienced good service, after all the stuff I had read on the internet about Dave Hinds I was expecting awful things but I thought it was worth it for the awesome bike. Instead I was impressed by the customer service of the staff and I got everything I ordered on time.

I know that should really come as expected but if you believe the internet then I must be luckier than a lottery winner!

Am I the only person to have had a overwhelmingly positive experience from Dave Hinds?

Heh heh! Another Dave Hinde Spam Attempt!

It's one of my nearest bike shops. I went in once before I'd read anything on the internet, was spoken to like a piece of sh1te and I haven't been back since.

Is this DH's new attempt at friendly PR?
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Honestly Dave, you do need to be a little more subtle.

Although I suppose one positive google linked review might persuade someone who hasn't read the other quadrillion bad ones....

Its not great PR if DH can't even spell his own name correctly.

Or maybe its a cunning plan?

  • Loads of people in our club and hereabouts have Hinde bikes and love them. I've bought lots of parts and groupsets there because they have been the cheapest and I've built up my own bikes.

But a year ago I got them to build up a Hinde XC mountainbike with quite a few unusual requests (you can't even specify stem length with a lot of the competition) like 170 cranks, double chain rings, full outer gear cables, custom paint job. The bike is light and really resposive and perfect for the riding and odd race that I do. So on this basis my next road bike will probably be from Hinde.

Am I detecting a trend here? Two new board members and all there have to say is singing the praises of the illustrious Mr Hinde? Guess there's ready supply of Saturday lads happy to sign up on the condition that they post nice things about their boss!

Curiously low number of posts from the Dave Hinde supporters club. It's as if they've just registered in order to post something.

    Hey, wait a minute......

These ridiculously cack-handed fake reports are an embarrassment, and only make Hinde and his associates look even more bumbling and dishonest. Would it not be easier actually to just give good service?!
  • This thread is classic.

I've never posted before but Dave Hinde is the best bike shop in the entire world.

Frankly I'm feeling the urge to complain to Wiggle.

    Not very subtle is it?
  • Sock puppet.

  • I bought a bike from Dave Hinde, the staff there are all so helpful, good-looking and super-intelligent. The bike is perfect in every way, I go up hills in 1/5th of the time, barely get out of breath sprinting at 45mph, my geraniums have grown much better this year, my breath smells fresher, crying babies start to smile and wild dogs roll over to have their bellies tickled as I ride past, and beautiful women throw themselves at me at the rate of about 30 an hour.
As far as I am concerned Dave Hinde is my god-like hero, I refuse to listen to all you haters.

  • pah, Speed_king would find fault.
My pen won't write on the screen
  • I have to admit that i did order some bits from DH earlier in the year and it arrived A OK... however if i had read the post about him i would have avoided! and would now avoid.

There must be some happy campers otherwise DH would nolonger be around.

i would like to say that im not anything to do with DH, hey that could be another acronym for di.. he..
  • My brother has used his shop several times and not experienced any bad services at all. This included buying sets of wheels built by DH. I am currently using one of these sets of wheels and they are excellent and therefore I'm currently considering getting him to build me a new set for the start of next season.

He does have a reputation for being an excellent wheelbuilder and he does sell at good prices. I also saw one of his bikes at the Cheshire Cat sportive and it looked really good.

This is not DH posting nor one of his staff or associates. I just thought I would post to give a fair and truthful representation.

Indirectly I know someone who works in DHs. Needless to say I have heard some very interesting stories.

Cannot elaborate any further at moment as do not want to compromise position of insider.

  • Nice one - I know all the inside juice but can't spill it. STFU with junk like that - "pix or it didn't happen" is the rule of the day. Easy to big mr big bullox on the i'net and front all kinds of rubbish. Real men tell the truth and deal with the consequences.

Franly I don't care about DH, there are better ebay stores frankly, but I do stand up for principles of not hiding behind forum handles. FJ is my real name.

I do remember getting some DA chainrings from Dave Hinde in 2002 or so and they did a good job: I bought 3 rings, 2 came right away, they called me about the 3rd being out of stock. 3 months later, I got the 3rd ring and was pleasantly surprised b/c I had completely forgotten about it. See? I can be balanced :-)

What a load of old boll$x this is ....
  • A work colleague, has a DH road bike, will bore anybody who cares to listen (or is that just anybody within earshot), about how great the bike is.

When I pointed all the bad internet publicity for mr Hinde, this guy said he's only dealt with him face to face, but even then DH has a strange attitude towards customer service - something along the lines of 'take it or leave it', except for his version includes many expletives.

I don't live/work anywhere near his shop, so web purchase would be only option for me, and because of google results would never risk ordering from DH

never been to DH's shop, but I used to go to JD Whiskers in Kilburn in the late 80s/early 90s and he was very good at the undiplomatic put down of customers in his shop. The bastard.

Yeah the guy I spoke to was riding a Hinde and I asked about how he found the bike and the shop. He said the bike was great, and the shop was fine but Dave wouldnt build a bike if he didnt like it - so if your choice of kit doesnt tally with his - then he wont build you it. Not customer friendly, but its his shop I guess....

Forums like this are for sharing info/thoughts, but saying 'I could tell some things about someone' is not on.
For the record couple of friends used DH many years ago, one receieved an abusive letter when he'd chased up an order and the other found the bike he'd ordered to be in a completly different coulour scheme when he went to collect it. I've no reason to believe the guy is a charatan but he doesn't seem to offer a very pleasant customer experience.
