Hi there

I currently have a mountain bike for my 26 mile commute to and from work everyday. I want to upgrade to a road bike and have been looking at the Dolan Mythos Road Bike - Sram Apex Omega. I was going to go with the Boardman Team Carbon Pro for around a similar price but have been put off by some review about the wheels.

Does anyone have any advice on the Mythos as I cant find any reviews anywhere?

I'd have thought there was a big jump between SRAM Apex and SRAM Rival. Heck, it even had me considering it for a TT bike - and I'm a Campag devotee! Plus, let's be honest here, it's a far better looking bike. If I was in the market for a carbon bike at this price point it would be hard to pass the Boardman up. I'm not sure about the Ritchey wheels but then you could always get some Fulcrum 7's and then either flog the Ritchey's or keep them as a spare.

Failing that, why not go Campag? By that I mean consider the Pinarello FP1 Xenon - there's shops out there selling it at pretty much the same price as the Dolan and Boardman. I'm amazed there was only the one thread about it earlier this year when it was on Wiggle.

The Dolan Mythos is great frame for the money. I have had a Mythos for about 16 months now and it was my bike of choice to complete LEJOG in May this year. Very comfortbale frame which handles well and is a very good all rounder. I have 105 on mine so cant comment on the SRAM kit.

I have 2 other higher end carbon frames and to be honest I rate the Dolan to be just as good but a lot cheaper.

Is the Dolan frame the same or very similar to the P-X SL Pro?
    More problems but still living....
  • Its appreciated!

At the moment the Boardman is £1200 but the Dolan is doing the Mythos through the Halfords cycle to work scheme for £1000 as apposed to £1300 on the Dolan website.

Would this sway anyone more towards the Dolan or still pay the extra for the Boardman?

Also Pianoman - As I am new to this I appologise but I am not sure if the SRAM Apex is better than the SRAM Rival?

    Thanks again

Sram Apex is below Sram Rival

    In descending Order

  • Thanks guys.

    Now its decision time...

Its a shame the Boardman has gone up and priced it out of the cycle to work scheme :-(
