Front Mech: Top-Swing vs Bottom-Swing Clamp Height?

When the time comes to replace/upgrade my front mech I'd like really like to go to bottom-swing (OE is top-swing to allow for an additional bottle cage on downtube). I'd loose the bottle mounting ability, which isn't an issue, but what I really need to know is would the clamp actually foul one of the bottle cage thread inserts.
Without actually buying a bottom-swing mech, my best bet is hoping one of you guys/gals has both a bottom and a top swing mech fitted in your stable (same brand and type would be a bonus) and could tell me the height difference in millimetres.
I'd be eternally grateful, and you might even get a mention in my memoirs.

will a bottom swing actually fit?
you need to see if it will. Frames fitted with a top swing mech usually have it fitted for a reason.
and the frame is a?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ah, that's the whole point of my post you see! As stated, top-swing was OE fitment to allow mounting of a bottle cage (which I have no need for).
GTD. are your mechs. actually on a bike (Might be tricky to measure if off bike)? I need the height difference of the band clamps when fitted to the downtube (e.g. , bottom swing clamps is 20mm higher measured from top of clamp to top of clamp)

Frame is a hand built custom jobby."Coming through..."0 -
like i said will itactually fit. the bottle mouns may be just in the way so that would mean getting a drill out.
or the tube joint may be too high.
so it is a no brand no name frame?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

From my original post:...'but what I really need to know is would the clamp actually foul one of the bottle cage thread inserts.' And of course this measurement is not frame specific."Coming through..."0
