    Awesome! :D
  • Cheers El Cap - she really is a beauty.

I thought those words would never leave my mouth

Looks massive next to my other bikes...

I can see this being an 'experience' when I can go for my first ride on it...

It feels as light as my XC racebike, and thats just over 18lb. So far so good.

    Don't start :-)

Handlebar angle looks a little suspect, need to be dropped slightly. May have too many spacers too, need to ensure you conform to the rules!
  • Loverly.

Toying with the idea myself as well of picking up a road bike for general crusining in the mountains when I don't feel like getting dirty.

    Yeah that looks really nice.

I wish I could have afforded a carbon frame like that, although to be fair, and only having had mine a week, I am extremely pleased with my Defy. I cannot yet understand why I don't give a flying fook what my mtb looks like, but I am already getting a little bit precious about the roadie.

I think it might be like the difference between having a little boy and a litte girl. You don't mind the little lad playing out and falling over and getting scrapped knees and stuff, but you're little girl just needs that little bit more care and attention.

However, I do not advise riding any of your children.

    Both forms of riding.

Out of curiosity big cheese, how much did that set you back?
  • It was £1250.00 reduced to £899, so not ‘cheap’ but still a steal I thought, it’s a mid-range bike, topped by the Advance which is a Pro bike, it’s got tonnes of upgrade potential, however, it doesn’t need it.

The only thing that would save even more weight, and add value is a set of lighter wheels at xmas, but hey, I am not a roadie, I weigh nearly 15 stone so... is it worth it? Probably not!
  • YES, I am jealous....

Very nice bike Adam, get her onto the road and tell us how well she flies..

Will do - gonna be another week/2 before I can get her out with leg problems, but I cannot wait!!! :)
  • That's quite a good deal you got there then!

For that price bracket, it looks well specced from what I can tell, and the frame is lovely. If I hadn't just bought my new bike last week, I would have considered buying a road bike in xmas sales, but alas, i'm poor.

The quality is really good. Apart from the tiny chip on the bottle boss which was there when I took it out of the box it's tip-top and has such a nice weave for it. What you have essentially is a top-drawer frame, that in essence should last a long time.

If by any freak of nature I get into the roadie side of things, I will get something better, but better means jumping up to the £2k mark, which is something I am not keen to do.

It has a reliable, proven gruppo, the wheels are great albeit a little weighty, and the finishing kit is fine, and looks good (especially the seatpin), am ordering some M540 pedals and some carbon spacers tomorrow, then next week some better tyres and my mavic shoes. Then the only other thing I shall change are the skewers to some KCNC Ti versions in black ;)

This is NOT to lose weight I may add, it's just a lil' Pimpin' ;)

I know, I have a perfectly good bike and am already thinking about carbon and ti goodies.... I can see what you mean, you can pimp roadies out even more than MTBs... :?

    A) another san marco aspide (if there are any left)

    B) Fizik Pave CX

    C) Fizik Ari........

All of the above suit my butt...... however, if the Giant Connect saddle fits as well as it looks, then I won't be replacing it at all...... :D
