Been using Ozone Thermoforte gel, but a) it's not very warming, and b) it lasts for about 10 minutes

Anyone use something better?

    Levi Roots' Reggae Reggae Sauce.

    Jerk BBQ is best.

You're right, the elite ozone stuff is pants. I've recently got some very effective embrocation from my LBS, but I'll have to wait til I get home as I can't remember the name of it. It was only about 7 quid though and lasts for several hours, including a few after your home and showered

Thanks - if you could post the name later, that'd be great.
  • Deems Red Hot Balms is very good, although I've had my pot for about 10 years, so it may not still exist.

It is very, very, warming, lasted an entire 3 peaks cyclocross plus the 4 hour drive home and still made my legs hurt and turn purple in the bath afterwards....

Don't sit in the sun with it on your legs.
  • I've heard the new Rapha embrocation is very hot and lasts ages!

How do you apply it so the label shows?

There's a stencil that comes with the pack. Leaves a nice flesh coloured logo in the red skin

Comes with its own tweed helmet, at a very reasonable £750.
  • I've used Mad Alchemy. It comes in different heat levels and lasts a good while. I used it on a mountain ride in the rain that lasted 5 hours and it was still warm at the end of the ride.

All joking aside, the Rapha embrocation is fantastic stuff. Yes it is hyped / expensive / heavily marketed etc etc, but mine was free so none of that mattered to me.

I used it on the Tour of the Peak Sportive and 6+ hours after putting it on it was still burning away and has definitely helped me keep cramp at bay. On top of that, it is very easy to apply, leaving no residue so no problem under bibtights or leg warmers.

It's just a pity that Rapha put so much spin on the marketing, the whole 'wiff of the Ventoux' is a bit embarrasing and leaves them open to ridicule, when in this case they really have a first class product.

Embrocation doesn't actually heat your muscles up does it - it creates a warm sensation on the skin but it's not going to prevent cramp or help your muscles peform is it ?

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
