Are Wiggle losing their touch ?

I would like to first of all say since I started to commute to work 2 years ago Wiggle have always been my first choice for buying new kit. Ive never had any problems with them whatsoever & have always gave them good press on the forums where needed. I am also in their top 10 product reveiwers & I swear by their DHB range

First of all, Im going to have a whinge about their new website. I find it much worse than the old format, in fact I never had any problems with the old website. Search for bibtights & it brings up hundreds of items most of which are not bibtights. If you use the back button it doesnt remember any of your settings so you have to start again selecting which order you want items to appear in & how many you want to show on the page etc. Ive gone back to the old a-z menu option however when you use the back button it reverts back to the new menus option so again you have to start again. Damn annoying.

I recently placed 2 orders & for the first time I paid for delivery on both orders as Ive noticed the free delivery service isnt as quick as it used to be & I wanted the items asap. The orders arrived no quicker than the free delivery so a waste of £8 imo. (yes my deliveries were still within the timescales shown on the website however I tend to go by previous experience)

One of my orders was missing an item so now as Im back to work, that wont fit through my letterbox therefore a trip to the sorting office will be needed, this after i had arranged to be off work to receive the orders.
The other order , I ordered 2 jackets as was unsure about size however both jackets have turned up with marks on them. Cos im desperate for a high-viz jacket I am keeping one of the marked jackets however Im really not impressed. Also 2 orders, 1 bag of haribo , tut tut, lol.

Yes these groans may well be trivial however having experienced no issues in the past to then have a number of issues, Im just wondering if they are losing their touch?

I've been buying loads of shit from wiggle. Often I place two orders on the same day due to seeing something else I like. I think their free postage service is great. I've accidentally paid for their priority shipping before and like you say it doesn't really make any difference.

I think the problem may be with the royal mail.

Never had a problem with Wiggle, I use free shipping and get items within 48 hours, plenty quick enough for the post IMO. I guess the downside to free delivery is that if they are extremely busy, free delivery orders might not be processed as quick.

As to deliveries, can you not get delivered to work?

As for the Haribo, it has been ages since I got haribo with my orders, I might complain about that LOL

Have used Wiggle loads of times also recently and have always got great service. Seems like you have been unlucky on this occasion.
With regards to delivery, try and get it delivered to work :)
  • What about getting your goods delivered to your work address. As you are more than likely to be there when delivery drivers are making their rounds it seems to make sense.

unfortunatley delivery to work is a big no-no where I work. Not sure why tbh, apparently we are just not allowed to do it.

I gave up on wiggle when after paying for priority dispatch it sat for 4 days before being picked, and it was in stock.
And the fact that the CTC discount does not work properly either

Had items fail to arrive at work.
And something I ordered on Saturday and got the dispatch e-mail on Sunday hasn't turned up yet, Dundee Central isn't on the new delivery system that is causing public uproar in Dundee East but still.

Would be better if they would use Signed for with Royal Mail.

I think you ve just been unlucky - both wiggle and CRC (basically interchangable for most I reckon) go through phases of being super busy and then quiet and delivary times vary accordingly - some week one will be faster and cheaper than the other and the next week they ll switch.

Don't feel bad it's nothing personal I'm sure

Have had no problems at all with wiggle with 5 orders in past 3 months, though i never get any free bags of harribo these days :(
  • +1 re Haribos. Next kids birthday looks like we'll have to actually buy some for the party bags. Or perhaps that shows I order to much bike stuff ....
  • never have issues with delivery etc, but my plantinum discount only earns me a measly 2% discount on some items i noticed today. what ever happend to the 12%??

I wouldnt actually say they are "shoddy", 99% of my experience of using Wiggle is a thumbs up & they will still be my first port of call for new purchases despite my recent experiences in my op.

I believe the 12% platinum discount still applies however if something already appears on their website with a 10% discount, when you check out, a further 2% will be deducted not a further 12%.

They had been slow for a while but I ordered a new chain and cassette on wednesday night 10pm ish and they came this morning at 8.30ish free delivery.

I agree about the new website, not keen and takes longer to load to.

Got a bag of Haribo with my CO2 Inflator, yesterday.

The Haribo in the small bags is nowhere near as big as those in the big bags though.
I also remember when mum used to order the big boxes of sweets from Dunhill's of Pontefrac (Haribo UK) 2kg of Fried Eggs :-)

I probably use Wiggle too much, I've been a 'Platinum' customer for a number of years now and don't dare look at how much I've spent with them in total.

There are still a lot of good things to say about Wiggle, but I would agree that there are a few things that detract from the experience now.

It's kind of a double edge sword with the free postage. They now take a lot longer to process the orders. It used to be that they would process and dispatch the same day if you ordered early enough. I made an order on Sunday and it wasn't processed and then shipped until Tuesday. I suppose this it nit picking when you aren't paying for the postage though.

The new website isn't very good.
I got sent an e-mail asking me to try it out early, due to being a Platinum customer. I was disappointed and switched back to the normal one while it was still there. I don't know about anyone else, but the way I browse Wiggle is by using the categories which are all there on the left hand side. Then browsing down the screen to where you just have the long list of what's available, which you can also get a preview of.

The new website by default seems to be setup to browse through everything as pages of pictures, rather than the list. It's also a further step to have to select subcategories and it sometimes feels like you are missing stuff. More annoyingly is that I find there is Kids stuff creeping in, which never happened before. Even when you select 'Male'.

I suppose it's pretty typical for companies to try and redesign their website, so they aren't the first. I think the old way just worked better though.

Their deals have become a bit haphazard.
It used to be that as a Platinum Customer, you knew what deal you were getting discount wise. Now they run discounts on individual product lines all the time... but you never know when it's going to happen. Ie... 35% off shoes today. Or 15% off for all customers this weekend. It's really annoying if you ordered something a few days before only for them to do something like that!

Back to the OP and the marked jacket.
I bought a running jacket from them last year, which was the last one in stock.
It had a black mark, so I e-mailed them to say that I really wanted the jackeet, but would they be getting anymore, as it was marked and I wanted to exchange it. They weren't getting anymore stock, so offered me a refund of some money to make up for it. Worth a shot!

I agree the new website is not an improvement

Trying to find things seems a bit random, I don't think it is just that I was used to the old layout. The new system is more complex for a worse result

I have managed to get the CTC discount. recently I had to ask for it manually in the comments box and was given a refund within minutes

I think that the new Wiggle website is a disaster. For an internet business to create a new website which is both horribly slow and notably user-unfriendly, is a spectacular own goal.

The range they carry is good and the prices are usually still keen, so I would rather continue to shop there, but I've already given up browsing the site - it just takes too long. (Losing the Plumpy account would also be a huge own goal for Wiggle. I don't care how much any of you were spending with them...I was spending more.)

I know I could be tempting fate.

I have been using Wiggle for a number of years now and can't remember ever having an issue or at least not any that couldn't be or weren't sorted out.

  • I used to keep Wiggle in business too but find myself using CRC a lot more these days - prices are competitive , free & fast delivery - seem to be using Wiggle less and less these days.
  • I use both CRC and Wiggle, but no Haribos with this week's delivery :( . The Haribos are the only things that keep t'other half from complaining about my purchases. Haribos for her, bike goodies for me.
  • They have not lost their touch. I got two bags of Haribo in my latest order :D . I ordered a grease gun knowing it was not in stock to make up an order over £50 to get the discount.

My daughters will be happy. So am I - no squabbles.

I have also been using Chainreaction a lot lately who have sent stuff amazingly quickly and were also giving me 10% off everything. They have a wider selection than Wiggle. Both are great, and keep me informed about order progress. I have had never had a problem with either site unlike some of the others mentioned in complaint threads. It makes it difficult fior Bike Shops to compete.
  • I have to say that I was always a big fan of Wiggle and Chain Reaction cycles, they were always my first choice but both have dropped in service recently (and increased their prices).

It always used to be the case that you'd place an order before 4pm and you'd get it the next day without question. They both now seem to take 2/3 days to dispatch items with another 1 or 2 days for royal mail to deliver. (I'm never going to pay wiggle for their priority dispatch).

I stilll use them a lot as their selection of stock is outstanding I am using Merlin cycles much more. I find they are more competitive on price and send everything next day recorded delivery.

Been using Wiggle for years and touch wood, never had a problem. For general stuff I always use either Wiggle or CRC, and for anything more specialized I'll go elsewhere such as PBK etc.
