So, I'm working at the M&S Retail Customer Services on Chester Business Park. It's good money, 20 hours a week, decent prospects and interesting work to do. The only problem is that it's working 5-9 in the evenings, along with working 12-18 hours per week at Moss Bros in Chester City Centre, and it's only a temporary contract until February.
Obviously I've got to pay the bills, so I just want some advice on the way to approach working there. I want to impress the bosses, and there's overtime available, but I don't want to do it to the detriment of my health.
The other thing about me is that I'm generally quite lazy, and will value my social life above most things.
So, chew on that, and if anyone can make sense and proffer some words of wisdom they would be well received.
Cheers

As a recruitment consultant, for my sins, and having temps most of the advice is common sense.
Be on time - work hard when ur there, take on extra responsibility if offered, treat the temp job like a perm job, dont schedule other appts in when u should be there like doctors/dentists or other interviews etc. Essentially be Mr Reliable and conscientious.
If OT gets offered then only take it if u want it but be straight with them if you dont - its not a condition of the job so dont feel abiliged and then then resentful and uncommitted.
Also if your through an agency dont neglect that relationship either, make sure ur timesheets are in on time and you dont piss the consultant off whining about pointless stuff (although by all means complain if something is seriously wrong). I have had it before where a client and I have decided which of the X numbers of temps should go perm so that relationship is important too. Also if it leads to nothing then u will want them to help u in finding something else.0 -
Cheers for the advice. I'll take it on board, see what I can muster from the job0
