Can anyone help? Just got a specialised enduro expert 2008, found that the fork travel adjustment switch is not working ie not holding the forks down. What do I need to do or look for? Cheers

Did you buy it new? If so contact Spesh and they should fix it free under warranty. If you bough it second hand, contact Spesh, and see how much they will charge to fix it.
And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

The "attitude adjuster" cartridge needs replacing...they're £190.
I've had an E-150 for 2 years trouble free until it's had it 2 year service and it's since gone through 4 cartridges since May(under warranty)
You need a 2009 cartridge but Spesh generally only warrant the Fork(for 5 years) to the original owner. If you can't get the original owner or receipt give Specialized a call on 020 8391 3517,they're usually very helpfull.
  • Cheers Guys. Don't fancy forking out £190 plus labour. Is there no-one on here that could sort it for a small fee???

If it's not holding on short travel it's probably Fcuked. It's not something that a home mechanic can do.
TFT tried to repair mine and it blew again after 2 rides so I'd contact them first then Spesh.

    Some background:

End of the day however if it looks like there is no option to the £190+ I would take a peek inside. 99% of cases "wont work" means a blown seal, nothing more. Certainly you may encounter sealed cartridges... but you won't know unless you take a look. And TBH with determination and resources even those are doable.

I have opened up and repaired Marzocchi forks in the past, no black magic involved, but you may need to modify some common tools such as sockets to be able to open it up.

There's a user here, Locotuning, may help if the above feels a bit much for you.

It is a sealed cartridge. You might still get it done under the 5 year warranty,Specialized are quite good at that sort of thing.I'd speak to them before you mess about yourself. They only recognise TFTuned as a service centre so unless you have absolutely no joy with spesh i wouldn't send it anywhere else.

I've heard of quite a few people having Specialized honour the warranty despite not being original owners- they don't do it for more stuff but they were good about admitting they'd screwed up the E150 and putting it right. definately worth a try.

I've never had a problem. They've asked me if i'm the original owner(which I am)but they've never asked me to prove it
  • I spoke to Spesh today and it is going back there tomorrow. The guys down there were really helpful . Its going for a full service (around £90 +p&p) they're pretty sure it can be sorted out in the scope of the service, just hope there are no surprises with the costs??? I'll keep you posted.
Oh and BTW, to maintain the 5 year warranty you need to have your forks serviced every year and warranty replacement parts seem to be for forks produced in 2007!
Konadawg, i've tinkered before with motorbike forks etc but didn't fancy this one as the bike is mint.

Mine have been serviced as schedule but they're 2008
2007 was the launch(and problematic)year and a some were put on 2008 bikes
As said earlier my 2008's were perfect until the 2nd year service when it went tits up.
Fingers crossed they're good now....and when they're good they're the best fork I've ridden 8)
Good luck with yours mate 8)
  • Hi Guys,

Well those boys down at Spesh are something else.

Sent the forks off on Friday, got a phone call this morning saying my forks are all fully serviced and are being despatched overnight to arrive with me tomorrow?

And to top it off they have replaced both cartridges to the '09 versions.

Now, I don't think this will apply for everyone, but all this for the price of a service £90 + £8 p&p.

    How happy am I ?

    :D
  • Now fitted.....they're the dogs bo**ocks!

Thanks to the Spesh Lads. and all those who took time to answer this post.
