Shorter routes in Afan
Hi guys,
me and some mates are planning on going to Afan next weekend. We're not sure we'll have enough time on Saturday to do 2 full trails. So i was just wondering if there are any shorter routes or any shortcuts?
We're thinking of doing Whites Level on Sat, is it easy to find a short cut back to the top or is there a shorter route nearby?
Also any advise on tyre choice? Im currently running Maxxis 2.1 Ignitors will these be OK or shall I stick on the spare High Roller I have some where in the garage? From what I understand, Afan gets wet but there is not a lot of mud so should be OK?

I would get on the High Rollers.
And you can scoot up the Whites climb at turn right after and getting the final Skyline decent making a mini sort of 10k loop. there is also the test loop which is about 3k0 -

Did this last Wednesday... Whites in the morning, then after lunch (pouring rain) we went back up the Whites climb, and round the fireroad to the Skyline descent... on the map it is Waymarker 66 I think - down Deadwood/Peregrine Ridge/JetlagVitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)
Giant Anthem X4 (2010) GT Avalanche 1.0 (2010)
Kingley Vale and QECP Trail Collective - QECP Trail Building0 -
cool thanks for the info guys. I think that'll be pretty much exactly what we need.0

Do you mean this weekend? If so, then the Skyline trail is closed because of the Wales Rally GB - http://www.afanforestpark.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=6486[/url]0
