hi guys, last friday one of my bikes was stolen from my workplace, cheeky begger came into the building while we where there and made of with my much loved viper. sadly it doesnt look like i can claim much, if anything of the house insurance so im over two grand out of pocket... so its got my thinking once more about insuring my second bike and the one i buy to replace my viper

my house insurance will only cover one bike to the maximum of a thousand pounds, so thats out of the question.. so im back to dedicated insuarers. last time i got a quote was 1997 on a £1300 bike and they wanted about £350. i just googled cycle insurance and came back with a few companies.

first i tried was cycleguard, almost £500 and tht was no overeas or recovery (which i dont need anyway) and no third party.. i tried a couple more then found e & l insurance, under £200 with overseas, recovery and third party.. sounds to good to be true so im wondering does anyoine know of them? or of a better deal i could find? i hate the idea of paying insurance as its generally money for nothing but loosing this bike was a huge financial hit for me :(

  • Change your home contents to M&S they'll insure any number of bikes up to £4k each with no specific security requirements and you can include away from home and accidental damage cover aswell.

ah, now that sounds good... i have a particularly good deal on house at the moment as my parents currently live with me and we have an age concern policy. and sadly at the moment i cant really change policies as i have a claim going through with a neighbour that claims to have hurt themselves on my property... maybe when that goes through ill look at them, in fact im gona go get a quote now just to have a look

I'm with sainsbury's home insurance, and for the tidy sum of £4 a month I insure a £2.5k bike. Kept in a shed.

Insurance only costs me £16 a month in total, for buildings, content, £500 smart phone cover/personal belongings out and about cover AND the bike!

i went through top cash back and got £30 back to put towards the monthly cost too

Scroll down to hom insurance and get a quote :)
