Blistered Palms - Glove? Technique? HTFU?

I had my first long run with a pack today, 60 miles.

I now have blisters on my palms between my thumb and index finger, right where I rest on the hoods.

Is this likely to me from gloves that are too big? Resting too much weight on my bars (although I dont feel heavy when steering)? Will I get over this with time in the saddle and should I just HTFU for the time being?

Grateful for any input.

Thanks
Chris

What kind of shifters are you using? I once got Ergo-thumb riding a sportive in Belgium where the thumb lever took off the skin on both hands after 230km.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Welcome to the forum :)
If you think the gloves are too big, good chance they are?
    Who are they made by?
My Assos gloves are pretty snug. Never had any, er...rubbing issues!
  • They are Endura Full Monty gloves. Medium, the small is too small. I know they aren't designed as road gloves, but I wanted long fingers with a bit of ventilation.

It could be down to the gloves then. The padding on MTB gloves is in a slightly different place to that of a road glove. Get some road mits, you'll get all the ventilation that you need, if you need a bit more warmth, you can always wear a pair of silk liners underneath.

Resting too long on the hoods I would guess.

  • Thanks guys.

Any suggestions for some road specific long fingered gloves?
