Needs more suspension (front and rear), some proper gears, some proper tyres, with some knobbly bits on, proper brakes, not made by giant and some less curly bars.
Once you've changed all those things, it'll be pretty good.0 -

I wish.... there has been talks of a new roadie, and this is it....... cant wait!!! 8)
I have not ridden a roadie for about 20 years.....
Needs carbon stem and bars though...
El Cap..... KCNC finishing kit?

Man I must be tripping balls. I remember something about a Canondale commuter, and then that you were getting a bike "next week", and that it had a triple on it or something. And now there's THIS abomination of knobble-less, suspension-less "thing".
Maybe the problem is that road bikes go in one ear and out of the other for me0 -
I'm mixed in my views. I love Giants and that looks stunning. However I love Cannondales and you could have got a full liquigas kit to match...
Bloody gorgeous either way0 -

What happens when you go out for a nice ride on a freezing winters morning on that roadiethen hit a patch of black ice those weird bald tires. You then fall off with lycras between you and the road and are killed by some 4*4 driver
Only joking I used to have a bike with those weird skinny tires but it got to small for meI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0 -

Good call. That said, there's loads and loads of 'boutique' manufactures of lightweight exotic roadie stuff out there, moreso than for MTB's. Expect to be bankrupt shortly...
Excellent choice of bike though and I like the colour scheme.
Crudcatcher "roadie" ride anyone?0 -
LOL - it's been so long since I have ridden a roadie, I don't know what to expect LOL
The last one I rode had the shifters on the downtube
I am interested on the claimed weight of ~18lb for the bike..
Phoned Pauls (3rd bike I have purchased from them) and its being built on Monday, shipped Monday evening
A new saddle is coming shortly.. something San Marco flavoured perhaps and a carbon stem...
needed? NO
Uneccessary? YES.....
Shall I do it anyway? HELL YEAH!!!!0 -

Seriously though how much? Very similar spec to my Focus(except my Focus came with a San Marco)......which was cheap 8)0 -

Well, it was £1300 reduced to £900.....
Considering I was only going to spend £600 originally...
Also, its a carbon comnposite frame and forks (and apparently Giant do this very well) which is why it cost more than a standard Alu frame don't forget...0 -

Nope and you wont see me in any lycra either. Oh and FTR I shall still be using MTB pedals and shoes0 -
.you will get weird looks then from roadies and MTBers:roadies will think why on earth is he wearing baggys and mtbers will take the mick just because your riding a roadie.
On the bright side at least you didn't buy a 29er roadie then you would be hated (don't know if a 29er road even exists)I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0 -

I thought road bikes used 700c things or are they the same as 29s,maybe we should ask our friends in the road section of this forumI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0 -
WAIH is a roadie as well as an MTBer0

Not entirely true, does my 29er look like a curly bared lycra bike? :evil:0

I have never ridden clipped in on my mtb, but on Saturday I bought some m520s and some of these:

I loved it and have avoided any unclipping failures so far.
I think it will take a good long while to build up confidence on the skinny little bike though.
Your bike is very nice, I am jealous.0 -

I hope you're kidding. ALL roadies are 29ers (DOH!)0 -
I still don't understand. I said all roadies are 29ers, not all 29ers are roadies.
What's your point?0 -
Don't get a carbon stem, get a nice alu one! Lighter, cheaper etc. KCNC's too gaudy IMO. New Ultimate FTW!0
