Hello,
I want to do my first Sportive next year. I'm Yorkshire based and wondered if anyone can recommend a good one to start out with? Hopefully in Feb/March time.
Thanks
Tom

I was on the 5 dales (er, actually I downgraded to the 3 Dales as I wasn't feeling well) and that's in May from Richmond North Yorks.
You need to study and join for the up to date info:

The Evans sportives are a good starter. There will be one early in the year from Harewood over to Grassington. Cheap, cheerful and well organised.
But why wait til next year? There is one this Sunday in North Notts!

45 or 65 miles and reasonably flat! I'll be there.....
I did the 5 Dales this year and it was excellent. Rather tougher than the Evans (even the shorter routes) but superbly organised and you can do both!Faster than a tent.......0 -
Straight in at the deep end, sign up for the Ryedale Rumble, the long run, but start training now by climbing the biggest hills you can find until next August :roll:Hills, love them, especially the ones that point downwards.0

Have a look here, they have a wealth of Yorkshire based experience in local sportives, and very very friendly.
