I'm thinking of getting a Cyclo-X bike for a bit of local racing but also to double up as a winter bike. Are cross bike rims generally wider and will i be able to switch tyres ok to use narrower road tyres? The bike i'm looking at has Alex DF-23 32H rims but I can't find anything on their web or get a response from their contacts. Would I be able to switch to 700 x 23c tyres for the road?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

23mm tyres might be a bit narrow, but 25mm no problem. Gives you a better ride as well.

The important dimension is the 16mm inner rim width of your rims. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire_sizing.html#width

Most cross bikes are fitted with regular road rims circa 20mm wide so will take regular road tyres. Agree on 25mm tyres for road riding - more comfortable. better grip and fewer punctures IME
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
