So I just got a nice refund as I've been paying too much since working whilst still a student.

The past couple of days I've been interested in getting a parabolic indoor trainer as I haven't been able to get out much cos of the crappy weather.

Do you think its worth it for a beginner road cyclist? I just got a boardman comp as my main ride so I feel like I've spent quite a lot since summer. And as I've moved back to my mums house, I think she's getting a bit sick of all the bike crap all over the place.

Maybe just spend the money on something nice for my girlfriend.

Argh decisions. I love surprise money!

boardman comp is a great bike. £200 'upgrade' won't really get much improvement in my opinion.

Save it and buy your girlfriend somethnig nice..... or if'you haven't get some wet weather/winter riding equipment
  • bllx to that ... buy the rollers
My pen won't write on the screen

Screw the parabolic trainer, spend it on some decent clothing and get out on your bike, theres no reason you souldn't be going out, weathers no where near bad enough yet!

Whenever I'm free to do some cycling its been pissing it down this past week. Whenever I'm in a lecture or at work, its lovely clear(ish) skies.

Wasn't really looking to upgrade the bike as of yet as I'm very happy with it. That will be next years job.

I guess I do need some winter gear. Also I need a jersey cos I don't have one yet.

Thing is my girlfriend is worried that I'm gonna buy everything I need, so that she won't be able to get me anything for christmas, (jerseys, reflective jacket, bicycle computer).
  • save it for a rainy day - plenty of those coming up

Well, neither you, or the bike, are going to melt if you get a bit wet, and £200 worth of decent kit will keep you warm and dry in bad conditions.

If I stopped in everytime it was raining, I'd hardly ever get out on the bike!

I had a £780 rebate from the taxman waiting for me when I got back from holiday :D two thirds of it has gone on the kids' Xmas pressies, a Specialized 24" each (x2) and the remainder has been wasted on non cycling related household stuff
2011 Bianchi D2 Cavaria in celeste (of course!)
2011 Enigma Echo 57cm in naked Ti
    2009 Orange G2 19" in, erm orange
