They were going for £130 a few weeks ago, but can't find anything near that any more - looking for a medium in blue, red, piton (fluo green) or fidji (fluo blue).

Any leads?

Oops. Just saw you are looking for a medium. Only Yellow ones left in that size.

That's a great looking jacket. Does it offer any waterproofing / showerproofing, or is it for dry days only?

    Not waterproof.

Hence why it is so good. Water resistant where it needs to be, and warm. It breathes, and is superbly cut.

It is a benchmark winter jacket for a reason.

I probably shouldn't have asked, now I want one!

The only thing perhaps putting me off is the description of 'Pro Fit' for the cut. i'm working on it, but I'm no racing snake just yet. Would you current owners suggest it is strictly for the slim hip'd only?!

you'll look like a lizard in a wetsuit, but you'll love it.

I wouldn't trade mine for any other winter jacket.

Mind you, any well fitting Gore windstopper softshell is a damn fine alternative. Loads of choice, and loads of makes.

Can't decide if that is a good or bad thing, but I reckon you've talked me in to it!

I'm a snake hips slim jim.

Trust me, they are fantastic. Quality, and like all Assos gear they are meant to be a close fit. Not stupidly so, but they are cut to work on the bike - not stood up.

    Second skin, and cosy.

I'd keep an eye out for a used one, as many people buy them and realise they will never slim into it. And sell reluctantly when the truth dawns....

I'm a bigger guy and while tight - they fit me OK. Just go for a bigger size if you are worried as they tend to be quite snug.

I find they fit exactly as the size guide says on the website. Snug, but right.

Shorts are more a mystery, but you will be ok relying on chest size for tops. Go one up if you are ok to have it roomy and prefer it to be a little big.

Job done - XL in black. Can't wait to give it a go, thanks for the advice.

I'm a 42" Chest and 34" Waist and the XL is perfect for me, my mate is a skinny runt and he tried it on and as it is race fit it fitted him as well.

Be warned though if it is warm out you will overheat, last weekend was 14 degrees on Sunday and I was dripping

Not worn any of my winter jackets yet.

    Been too mild.

Autumn gear with windproofing is fine at the moment.

That sounds spot on for me too, I am a similar build.

I have this in mind for 10 degrees and below I suppose, so again it sounds just the job, with maybe a stowaway jacket for showery days.

Can't wait to give it a go, I hope it arrives before Sunday's ride.

Same sizes all around for me.

I don't wear mine if it's over 10° - they are WARM! I wear my Intermediate one for warmer days.

Just bought a black 851 (XL) from my LBS (Bike Factory).

They said I could buy for £195 or they will price match, so a quick google on my phone and they matched to £149.99 - well pleased.

Tried the Large on and the XL, the Large was too tight - im 5'10" with a 38-39" chest so the sizes do come up small.

One thing to note the XLG is XXL (XL Grande) I picked one up thinking it was the XL, it was a tad large :-)

    Quality is superb.

Thanks for the answers on this, but I gave up and got a Mavic Inferno instead which I'm very pleased with. Just waiting for a gap in the ice before seeing how it handles -5 deg.

Me too, even in the coldest weather I just wear a merino base layer t-shirt and I am fine in it.
