A great Surfer, and a great man. I was gutted on Sunday watching the ASP to hear he was Ill, and wouldn't be surfing.... But its shocking, and saddening to hear he's dead!

    Yes indeed very sad and to die from a virus after surfing such heavy life threatening waves day in day out, goes to show how delicate life is.

    thoughts with the family, some how worse as wife pregnant too.

    His wife was pregnant?! oh dear.... thats just so, so sad!

    Good point about that too... when my bro in law first told me I presumed it must have been a surfing related accident... getting knocked up on a reef or something... I'm almost glad it wasn't though...

    So used to hear alotabout different surfers, though never stuck at the sport myself.

    Its interesting that billabong released that statment saying he'd died from fever... Yet he did have a rather large drug problem according to other people.
