Hayes stroker carbon trail rear piston problem

Hi I've just bought a secondhand blur lt2 pimped out with a xc build, it has been fitted with Hayes stroker carbon trail disc brakes.The brakes work really well if a bit fierce, though when I pull on the rear brake it makes a loud thud/click noise on the initial brake pad contact which does not affect the brake performance. Never heard a noise like this before as I've only used hope brakes in the past which have always worked flawlessly.
Any help would be great.

I take it all bolts are torqued up correctly?

I might be wrong on this but I found that the pad spring on mine developed a problem which meant the pad could wiggle about and become out of line. Might be worth checking.
