Thought I'd share my Sunday morning ride.
The aim was to get over the mountain to the right and cycle home on the roads at the other side
Bike shot
Old road, too muddy and steep in places, wheels just span so had to walk
Just come up here
Old mine enterance
Thought I'd cycle in a bit  Then though better of it and turned back after 100 metres or so.
Had to climb to here
There are more images but I can't get them all to work. Basically it was steep, muddy, bumpy, very very wet and I wish I had suspension.
This was an epic struggle getting over the top, I though about turning back loads of times but I was so wet and muddy I might as well carry on and anyway it probably would have been harder to go back the way I'd come.
I massive sense of achievement but I really want a CX mountain bike now . . .[/img]

Is that the old miner's road from Croesor over the Moelwyns to Tanygrisiau? Never done it on a bike, but a nice hiking trail with a great view looking back West towards the sea.0

Ah yes it is.
I remember one time I was there, standing next to that ruined building shown in the last photo when a very low-flying fighter jet whizzed past, well below the level of the ridge in the background, and just about cleared the end of the valley wall.0 -

Well spotted. that's the one! Couldn't see the sea today though, too cloudy. The old miners roads we're pretty simple but the walk with the bike on my back from the old Croesor mine over the Moelwyns was hard as fcuk. Only small sections were ridable, one part I started riding and went through a what looked like a puddle, turned out it was a deep stream and I ended up falling in it it was fun though0 -
Looks a fantastic ride0

Another good upland route (an old drovers road) is just south of Dolgellau, here:

Looks like a good day out to mePain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0

Feck, U Welsh are a Tough bunch, what's with this carring bikes up Mountains? Walked up Snowdon last Wednesday and there was a Woman carring her MTB up planning to go down the Ranger Route, tough enough I think but there was a lot of Snow up there! Any body know her? Is this a regular thing?
North Wales is Beautiful though wish I'd had me road bike with me. (would have stayed on the Roads!)0 -
