Got Dog S**t on My Bottoms riding home. Not happy!!!

While riding home last night i managed to get dog mess on my upper thigh on my cheapo Ronhill Bikestars Trousers. Question: Do i bin them or wash them on 90C?

I have put neat domestos on the part where the s**t was and left it outside overnight.

After a 90c wash will they be ok to wear again or just chuck them and buy new bottoms???

Just really annoying that dog owners allow dogs to fowl on the paths & then they get covered with fallen leaves and i must have ridden through some! It stinks and is just plain nasty!

Anyone else encountered this??-surely you all must have at some point.

Thanks guys

A 90 degree wash and bleach sounds a bit like overkill to me. Can't imagine there would be any of it left after that.

it's excessive hygiene paranoia and just the smell has really put me off a little hence the domestos and 90c wash. Also doing a biochemistry and microbiology degree doesn't help as bacterial knowledge screws you up haha.

If you step in dog shite do you burn your shoes? If a bird poops on your shoulder do you burn your top?

Me thinks not, not like you eat your dinner off them.

Clean them and get over it, sheesh.
  • Might have to burn your bike aswell mate.
  • Boil wash and be done with it!!! I work in a Nursing home and get covered in human shit quite often. If i went binning uniforms because the got shit on, i'd be skint!

    Boil them :D
  • Just lick it clean and take a good dose of MTFU you great jibbering pansy!

It's touch and go whether you should lose the leg!
  • Well that's a bit excessive. Burning clothes because of some dunky. Do you do that with mud as well because of the microbes inside it?

Yes, whenever anything gets dirty or has poo on it then I burn and replace. Same with bike chains and tyres.
  • Neat bleach ?

If it doesn't burn a hole through them then you'll have a nice white patch where the dog s*#t used to be.

This, maybe not lick it clean, but the MTFU/great jibbering pansy bit.

  • i was sucking the last drop of water from the poo and piss soaked teat of my drinking bottle when i read this. Must incinerate all of my shreddies, the toilet seat, the neighbour's cat, the lounge curtains oh and i suppose the bathroom floor and walls are goners too. Is there nowhere to hide or is it not really necessary?

If anyone needs me, I'll be under the bed fearful of biting bugs etc

I have children so am desensitised to s*it on my hands, clothes, face etc.

If the bleach doesn't leave a multi coloured stain on your shorts I would stick them through the washing machine on their own and wouldn't worry about it!

you are doing a biochem and microbilogy degree and you haven't considered what is in the mud all around you when you mountainbike?

Have you got a nice orange bleach stain on your trousers yet?

i would have just used some antibacterial handwash on the affected area and then washed them in a bucket with a bit more and then bunged em in the washing machine with the rest of your riding gear which will undoubtedly have millions of little bits of poo all over it too.

    :D:D
  • Just wash them, probably ruined them with the bleach anyways.

Well my bottoms are still alive and i wore them on the weekend.
There was a copper stain as a result of the domestos but along with the 90c wash i can't complain.

Yes i have a micro and biochem degree and i do realise all the microbes that are contained within mud. Just offputting when you get 'raw' s**t directly on your stuff!

Also as i'm not too ignorant of what microorganisms do what , it led me to the domestos and 90c wash route. At least the trousers aren't too expensive like my bibs.

Thanks for the comments guys & yes i did 'man up' hahaha
