Hillingdon Winter Series & BC Points/License

So, the Winter Series at Hillingdon starts on 4th Dec.
Am I right in saying that a BC racing license always starts from Jan 1st (and that BC membership lasts for 12 months from date of purchase)?
If so, it means waiting til 1st Jan for a license and sacrificing any points from first 4 races (probably not an issue! ) or buying a license for 1 month in case of earning enough points to move up to 3rd Cat.
Is this correct or would buying a full racing license for start of Winter Series carry over to next Dec?
Sorry if this has been discussed before but they do seem to make it complicated!

So I can buy my new license now and it will be valid until next Dec?
Edit: Just phoned BC Membership:
Race license for the remainder of 2010 is now £16.
2011 License becomes available mid-December for £32.
The question now is, is it worth £16 to maybe pick up some points in early Dec.... :?0 -
Ask them to get you a 2011 race license - it will be accepted for the Winter Series races. Calculations for the various categories run from Dec to Nov anyway.0

Hillingdon are pretty good and last year offered to honour any points I won in the first few races before I was actually able to get a race license.
If it is your first time there, and or first race... play it safe, don't sprint for the finish if you're not already out of the top ten by the bend coming in to the finish line... just a recommendation I got last year.
Needless to say, I got nil points in the first few races I did.

Then you should've been at Hog Hill or Ottershaw recently as December races are for 2011...Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -
I’m not chasing points myself, I was just curious.
I’m going to have a crack at these, I see you can enter in advance online. They don’t sell out do they? – or can you EOL?0 -
You can EOL, the one that I went to most were paying their tenner there and then,
I should be there on the 4th for the 3rds race. I always need something to train for!0 -
Anyone going this saturday? If it is cancelled because of the snow/ice, how do they announce it?0

On their website if they know in advance it will be, but obviously they won't know until the day on some occasions.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -

You've got the Hog Hill winter series which is easier from cambridge by train.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -
Is it easy on the train? I thought it was quite a complicated journey?
Cheers!0 -
Found an old thread with the info on, so no worries....still almost a 3 hour trip each way though0

Is it a cycleable distance from London liverpool street? For someone not used to cycling in London?0
-
cant be more than 10 miles, not sure i'd want to ride thru central london before a race tho.
See you there, if its not snowy!0 -
I'm 10 miles from Hillingdon and thought "10 miles from the other side of London can't be right!" - using Google Maps it's 17.2 miles using A roads. Cycling there will include a lot of traffic filtering and an intolerance to traffic lights.
From Cambridge the easiest way for you to get there would be to get a train into Liverpool street, cycle 5 miles to Paddington station which is North of Hyde Park and then get the train to Southall. Then it's an easy 2 miler to Hillingdon.0 -

Train Cambridge - Liverpool St
Train Liverpool St - Goodmayes (20 mins, train every 10 mins)
15 min ride to Hog Hill
When I looked this journey up it say it would take something like 2-3 hours.0
