I'm busy converting my flat bar hybrid with drops to use as a winter bike, been given full shimano105 components, but the gear cables have been removed from the shifters, how do i connect them back up?
had a look under the hoods but can't see any obvious connections.

I have 105 but never had to replace a gear cable. However, I think you have to pull the brake lever to gain access to the internals and thread the gear cable through.

Failing that, have a look on Shimano tech docs or the Park Tools website. Or wait for advice from someone who knows what they are talking about

    Does this help?

    http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techd ... 621374.pdf

    Or here: http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/bl ... ID=iLhixmp

Scroll down to the correct model shifter at bottom of page and it should give you what you need.

Ha, sorted - didn't realise the cable went through the side of the shifter,i was trying to copy the Ultegra set up which seems to follow the brake cable direction and is hidden under the hoods/tape, just need to do a bit indexing now........ermmmm :?
