I'm not easily impressed these days (frightful cynic wot wot!) however these Red Bull boys are totally insane and quite possibly MTBing geniuses to boot!

Look at this video (bottom right page, click play me..no idea how to get it to embed on the forum sorry!)

http://www.imbikemag.com/issue8/?page=17

This was filmed in Utah but i wouldn't be suprised if most of them were Aussies, as they've always seemed the most crazy riders to me..

thought ya'll might like it..

I love that one... Gee helps him up then goes "Hey, did you have your camera on?" just the same as when my mate pulled me out of a bush at fort william, just as though it was just the most normal thing in the world and they're just 2 guys out riding their bikes

Redbull Rampage!! It's awesome isn't it!

Not sure how many aussies were there. Gee Atherton came second though! A World Cup level DH'er (and Brit) beating most of the best Freeriders in the world.

Loads more vids / info here

  • Yeah i was reading the results in the mag..the brit did well din't he! i'm feeling oddly proud!!
  • If possible, get the old Rampage box set, the one where in Disc1 Kyle Strait is a brave 14 year old mixing it up with the big boys right up to him winning the Rampage in Disc 4
As the years progress, so does the riding, you can see how the levels were raised over the years in that original box set.
You also hear how the riders were frustrated by the amount of spectators at Virgin, UT, as the RB Rampage grew in popularity the amount of spectators increased and the onlookers/fans often got in the way of the riders' planned lines.

The Rampage series is very gnarly sh¡t, it takes gonads of steel to point your front wheel down those hills and over those big air jumps, not add even bigger gonads to pull tricks in the air at those speeds.
  • Thanks for the tip man!

I'd have love to have been where those journos were, seeing it first hand must be mind blowing! 8)

I watched this Live on Pinkbike.

    The results should have been:
    1: Berrecloth
    2: Gee
    3: Zink

Best trick was spot on though.

    Shame Semenuk was out injured

Deffo one of those 'wOw' moments.

I'd struggle to walk/climb up and down those hills, nevermind point a bloody bike down them. Respect.

And best of all... we seem to have somebody who\se pretty good at it :D

It's definitely nice to see Brits doing well at something, but I'm guessing you guys aren't avid DH followers, though.
The Brits have been damned well near dominating downhill racing for some time
