Here goes!
Just returned to the UK from northern (very flat) Germany and my Carrera Subway 1 is now useless (although some 2500miles on it).
I live near Burton Dasset Hills in Warwickshire and want a cheap decent hardtail for fun and daily commute. I have been waiting for the Carrera Fury to have a decent sale on (don't want to specnd more than £400) but no luck yet.
Since then i have been looking at cheap 29ers. However the UK is not a big 29er market and therefore thay all cost a fair whack. should i build my own (probably cheaper), buy ready made 29er, continue to wait for the Fury or buy something else?
I am 6,3" with a 34" inside leg, about 15 Stone and GSOH (feels like a dating site).
this is the bike i want:

Does anyone know any importer? My local Diamondback specialist says he can't get hold of it.

The Fury is (imo) a much better bike than the Diamondback. You seem to be paying extra for the diamondback because of the fact it's got some clown shoes on.
As for building your own, a custim build 29er is going to be more expensive than an off-the-shelf model unless you compromise on parts. I think you'd struggle to build something half decent for £400.
Of course, there is always the 2nd hand market.0 -
yeah, checked fleabay and found 1 hybrid, are there any decent used websites?0

Buy a disc braked, carbon rigid forked hybrid and fit knobblies.0

Trek (Gary Fisher) make a single speed version of the Marlin for £450 or you've got the normal version for £525. The best 29ers by miles.I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...
