diy goretex shorts

has anyone made their own w/proof shorts from ex army goretex trousers if so what feed back

Haven't done it but was seriously considering it last winter. Got to be worth a try with the price of the army suprlus stuff.

Only concerns I had was no padding (lycra under shorts would sort this) and is the stiching going to be strong enough around the crotch.

Can be had for half that on eBay (12 quid) if you look around.

Cut the legs off at the desired length, sow up half an inch or so at the bottom, job jobbed!

Or get your mum to do it as I planned to do, 30 years old and still need ma mommy to do ma sowing!!

I tried it with Aldi/Lidl waterproof trousers and they lasted about 3 rides!

I did this with a standard pair of waterproof trousers which cost £5. Just cut below the knee with a pair of scissors and that was it!! A bit noisey but havin a dry arse makes up for it.

yep i did the same last winter with a £5 pair of lightweight golfing waterproofs from one of them cheapo sports shops .there not that waterproof anymore but still useable and a bargain .
