Ive been having trouble indexing my gears correctly, I have noticed that the cage isnt parallel with the cassette. The smaller wheels dont align up with the chain, Is this normal for a SRAM XO?

bent hanger. setting up is just the same as for shimano other than the top jockey wheel to cassette distance.

If you need set up info download it from Srams webby or read the info on Sheldon or Parktools webbys.

  • So the cage should be in line with the cassette?

    yes

the mech hanger is the obvious culprit. Removable hangers have their positives but they also are less strong, more flexy and often don't sit/align perfectly, compared to welded hangers. So you need to give them a tweak sometimes.

I take no responsibility for the following but...... I'd just grab the hanger and bend it straight. Don't come running to me if it snaps off though  Also check the bolts holding the hanger on are tight.
