  • Never heard of it, then again, I haven't heard of most of the stuff you put up :P I heard planet rock the other day. Afrika Bambaataa and the soul sonic force
  • Last good Clash album in my opinion. Although should i stay or should i go is rubbish.

It's the last "real" Clash album. Not their best but has some good moments, Straight to Hell is pretty special.

I've always reckoned Combat Rock as the best "end to end" album I've heard...as in there's not one track I'd skip. Even OK Computer has it's weak moments.

yes they were struggling by then, Know your rights is the decent track for me. can I add rock the casbah to rubbish ones.

I liked This is England of This is England though the rest was pretty much tosh.

Yes i just about remember the Clash...
  • For mine, all the decent tracks off it are available in better versions on Westway to the World. The version of Straight To Hell on there is fantastic.

  • Combat Rock was quite welcome after the sprawl of Sandinista. Give ’Em Enough Rope is still my favourite album – I’m having Safe European Home as my funeral song else I’ll haunt the kids
  • Thats a coincidence was just listening to the Clash last night as well. Live a Shea Stadium.

My funeral tracks are "going underground" or "I'm on fire". Havent decided on a burial or cremation yet.

Sandanista is a funtastic album, your honour I give you:

Dont really rate Combat rock, by that time the clash had become the media version of the clash....I'd take any mescaleros album over it.

I'm not saying that Sadinista is poor, just that with a little bit of filtering it could have been a stunning double album - did we really need a kiddies version of Career Opportunities?

sort of concur but i think Sandinista hangs together. it would have been absolutely stunning as a double tho.

I like the career opportunities kiddy jingle version. the lead lad sounds so world weary by the end I have a smile every time I hear it.

first album for me, though the Clash were really a live band, none of the records give a hint of what a gig was like

i miss them and those days
  • Never really took to Combat Rock, dunno why maybe the daft haircut on the cover...?

Agreed Sandinista would have made a cracking single/double LP. But now were in the digital era much easier selecting the best tracks than negotiating a needle across 12" of vynal to find your fav songs. Probably listen more to that album now than back in day.
