hi all,
i'm ok with the height of my saddle but never really understood what difference moving the seat backwards or forwards makes?
am i right in thinking if you have your pedals at 3 and 9 o'clock your knee should be directly over your ankle or have i dreamed this?
cheer's derek.

I read somewhere it was KOPS (knee over pedal spindle), if you drop a plumb line from the tip of your knee it should hover over the pedal spindle. Assuming your saddle is at the correct height. This then will adjust your saddle to an efficient position.
  • cheer's red i thought it was something like that

Seat fore and aft position is determined by your femur length, pedalling style, flexibility and strength - KOPS is a good place to start but not definitive - a 'spinner' will prefer a more forward position whereas a 'grinder' will have it further back to allow you to use you quad and glutes to push down on the pedals. However, don't adjust your saddle fore and aft to compensate for reach - that's another issue entirely.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
