Ive seen ribble are selling the pinarello fp2 with ultegra for £1800, does anyone know anything about the bike? It looks like a really good bike but there aren't many reviews and I havent seen anyone riding them?

Also, any other good bikes for around that price?

Thanks alot :)

If you can cope with the race geometrey - you will struggle to find a more breathtaking bike than the pinarello - both in lasting looks, and accleration. - Awesome bikes.....go buy

Is the geometry of all Pinarello bikes the same? i.e. aggressive race?
  • Mrs squill tried a willier Izoard Voloce, FP2 with 5700 105, kuota kharma and a Felt F4 yesterday.

After she tried all 3 she prefered the ride of the F4, which I was shocked by, as she really wanted the FP2!

I tried all of them, and think the FP2 fell behind both the F4 and Izoard, I tried my hardest and couldnt feel any flex on the Felt, where as I could feel a tad on both the Willier and Pina when I put the hammer down.

The kharma was nice, stiff ride, but very heavy compared to the Felt and Willier. The FP2 was olso quite a bit heavier then the Felt and Willier.

An unusual choice, but If you can, go and try it out!

Interesting - I have a Kharma - and don't think its thats stiff, compared to my older pinarello. On the other hand I think the Kharma is quite light - I have upgraded the wheels and gruppo though.

Not that its an issue for me - I just buy the prettiest bike !
  • The Kharma was thwe best looking, we both agreed on that! and I think if the felt wasnt there, she would have left with it over the Willier and Pina!

Was the Kharma as stiff as the Felt then? Did both the Felt and the Kharma have the same equipment? Just wondering whether the weight difference was down to the frame or the full build parts?

This Kharma weight thing is a funny one. The bike is often reported as being heavy - yet the kuota Kebel doesn't have such a reputation - but is only 50g lighter. (frame weights)

I specced my kharma ultegra & xero wheels on my Kharma for an £200 in total. The bike rides as light as feather IMO - a while back on a club run, a fellow cyclist when changing a puncture - commented on how light it was.

I am biased cos I own one - if you prefer another bike fair enough - but I wouldn't not buy the kharma just because of the perceived weight issue.
  • It was 105, over the Ultegra of the Felt, but these was quite a big difference in weight. It would have still been her second choice as she said it flt very "safe" when turning, and had the best ride quality out of all 4.

Forgot to mendtion, she tried a Madone 4.5, and hated it...

It's a shame you couldn't have ridden both frames with the same parts, it just makes it harder to compare. If the Kharma felt safe and had the best ride quality, what made her choose the Felt?

    Weight obsession I'm guessing.

I also reckon that that perceived weight difference was no more than a couple of pounds.

Medium Kharma has a 1200g frame so its not a heavy bike. My large Kharma with Ultegra and Reynolds Shadow wheels is 18.5 pounds so only a couple of pounds more than a really light bike. I tested the Kharma back to back with a Scott Addict which was stupid light and there really wasn't any difference in the climbing ability of the bikes. Hardly surprising as a couple of pounds is an insignificant difference when you factor in the weight of the rider.
  • She prefered the felt as it felt much quicker to get up to speed, and she found it easier to throw into corners.

Simply how she put it was it was the most exiting to ride out of all 5!

Fair enough. Always best to go with the bike you connect with rather than worry about small differences in spec.

I can never understand why people buy without trying. Your wife's experience demonstrates the value of test rides
  • I know, she would have chosen the FP2 if we ordered online, and after trying, turns out bar the 4.5, it was hear least fave!
