Dura Ace CL wheel pricing

So, these seem the ones to get (after a lot of research and deliberating).

The thing is, i won't actually be using them much (if at all) until April next year. So i am after some guesses (I know no one will know for sure!) as to whether there is likely to be anything better out by then (the 2011 versions?) or if these are likely to go up in price.

They are on Merlin for £500 and am a bit worried that by April, all there will be is the 2011 versions, at much nearer the RRP plus the VAT increase.

Anyone care to hazard a guess? Perhaps there will be better deals near xmas?

Thanks

Nick

If you have the money get 'em. I just bought and built upt a Milani that will not get any real use to April!!!

I bought the CL24's last Jan for £410 they have not been near that amount since; look at the state of the housing market, the Spending Review etc and then the currency predictions Sterling aint going to bounce back anytime soon so prices will stay high. Just do it you can always forego everything else :)

If there are 2011 versions are they going to significantly better? I doubt it maybe better graphics and losing the red nipples, they are light and strong already. I would hate to see what side walls they come up with next, be like fag papers.

  • Get them now, I bought last week and they are only likely to go up in price.

Nice wheels, first test ride tomorrow before they go away for the Winter with the Race bike.

Only gets colder from here people!
Summer - Dolan Tuono with Sram Force and Dura-Ace 7850 CL Carbon wheels
Winter - old faithful Ribble winter bike

I concur they appear to be the wheels to buy, I am keen on a set, but see no reason to rush in and buy, my current wheels will be ok for the winter roads and will look to buy better wheels in Feb/Mar next year.

They may be more expensive?...they may be the same......cheaper or another wheel may be the must have at this price point???

Itwill just be frustrated having them there, when there is little point in using them and will probably enjoy new wheels more next year when they have just been bought...plus warranty will just be slipping away.
  • aye, warranty is a fair point i hadn't considered!
  • Buy them now. Use them on dry winter days.

Me also, the 7900's apparently have a slightly different hub, on the same rims. The hub's been re-designed to fix something or other that hasn't bothered me anyhow! I love mine - they look, feel and even sound fantastic

I contacted the importers the other day & they said the new 7900's won't be here until Jan 2011, at the minimum.
  • so perhaps there is still time for a pre-xmas merlin super discount?!

I think that is for the SLs, the CLs look to still be £499.95 on Merlin.
