Brake problem
Where are my stabilisers?

Hello!
I'm after some advice on what is wrong with my brakes after I tried downhill the other day.
I did Cwmcarn uplift and after a few runs my braking power totally dropped off. The front brake was squeaking a bit before I started, but this didn't effect the power and the pads still appear to have life in them. I checked the rotors after the runs and they weren't hot or anything. When I got home, I tried the brakes out again and they have definately lost power.
So, what's the diagnosis? Do they need bleeding or new pads or what? Is there anything I can do to reduce this problem in the future? etc...
The brakes are Avid Elixirs and have done me very well for XC, but are they up to the job if I'm gonna do a bit more downhill? Would bigger rotors help at all? I was on the brakes quite a lot, but they didn't seem very hot!
Sorry for the 20 questions, but the loss of power made the last couple of runs a bit sketcky

Are they fine now?
Would think it is the heat build up.
Bigger rotors may help.0 -
They work, but they still haven't got the same power as they had before the trip! They have lost their bite, if you get what I mean? It used to be hard to brake without locking up, now it's easy to stop without locking up.http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

do the levers feel the same?
if yes then the pads are either glazed or contaminated.
a quick rub down with some wet and dry laid on a flat surface and pads then put back in the same caliper and in the same place, will sort the glazed pads out.
new pads to replace the contaminated ones."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I think they feel the same, I'm yanking on them harder though in desperation
I'll try and rub down the pads and see what happens, I have got some spares so if this doesn't work, I'll put new ones in.
Thanks!http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

Also consider the rotor sizes.
if the brakes were going off during the run you cold be getting a heat build up.
but if they just got worse over the day then it will be a pad issue."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
