edited October 2010 in Commuting chat
I ride a variety of bikes, for commuting and often for many miles to get out of the house.
I am middle aged.
I am a what the Daily Fail considers a 'professional'.
I am not an architect but have a couple of SAABs.
I have facial hair.
I wear sandals every day but not socks.
I prefer shorts, long trousers are for work
I like Sweden, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
I ski every year in an upmarket location.
France is my preferred holiday location.

however

Within the last month I have hit someone in the face so hard they fell to the floor.
I have considered skunk, coke and cheap sex.
I have considered that amphet will help me ride really quickly.
Falling Down looks like a biopic.
Drowning Pool Let The Bodies Hit The Floor is a catchy tune.
Huge uni bills are on the horizon.
Doing a 'Beaumont' has appeal.

Right time for bed, got to ride to work at 6am

Mark Beaumont went on a record breaking cycle tour trip with the aim of hitting someone so hard in the face that they fall to the floor, and having cheap sex on coke (not with the same person) in at least 4 antipodal locations around the world all while wearing the same white shirt, tie and black trousers. His only baggage a pannier and a shotgun.

Seriously though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUscTep9lbM&NR=1 An inspirational chap. Would recommend watching both his series, The Man Who Cycled The World and The Man Who Cycled The Americas. Not on iPlayer any more, but its "around".

this chap did a beaumont and smashed his record. as far as i can see, the only reason he did it is because he thinks beaumont of an arrogant @rse

yeah, i can kind of see where he's coming from on some of it, but he generally comes across as an angsty politics student. i enjoyed beaumont's tv programmes, but he is a bit stuck up his own bumhole with it all. motivational speakers are all w@nkers IMHO

Strange that someone who has cycled round the world still needs to get a life - I wonder why he actually did it - at least with Beaumont there was proof and I can think of a lot of charities who would be grateful for £20,000

I believe Julian Sayerer (he of the massive shoulder chip above) did not get the record ratified. However, Vin Cox did this year. Well done Mr C.

i think he did get the record, but then was promptly trumped by Cox, which is fairly amusing

If you have a look in his blog, there's the picture of the certificate from Guinness with his name on it, so it does look like he got it. He was at 169 days, Vin Cox at 164.

However, there's some talk of a fellow called Alan Bate doing it in something crazy like 113 days...
