I think it's a good idea in principal but the cost, weight and danger of incorrect deployment would put me off. Looks like it would only work if shunted from behind.

Jim.

Great, what happens from the front, side, 45 degrees any direction, come to that 20/15/12.845 degrees etc.

Also, is it me or is the crash test cyclist not wearing a helmet, what a dummy !!!!!!!!!!

If he were it may snap his neck when it inflated, a litte overkill if you ask me.

One assumes it will not inflate if you simply fall off, or are gently knocked to the kerb head forst, I prefer an always in place helmet.

Also is it use once and throw away like a car airbag, does it have a lifespan, need to be changed once a year or two and can you GUARANTEE it will work, my MET and BELL helmets will.

What an utterly stupid idea! How about a suit that deploys an array of such cushions turning you into a blow up ball? It's just riddiculous. Just like bicycle helmet it might protect you when you somehow slide from your bike and land on your back, but will do nothing in a serious crash. I wonder why these ideas do not come up i Netherlands?

Looks like an air based alternative to a helmet to me, which gives more protection as it surrounds the neck as well.

Typical stoopid cyclist, no lights, just standing there impeding tax paying road users.
