Etape v Marmotte

Anyone out there do last year's Etape and a Marmotte at some stage?
Planning next year's diary and the 'short' Etape doesnt really appeal. The other Etape stage does look a toughie though.
I'm considering the Marmotte and wondered how much tougher it is than what was one of the harder Etapes last year.

By last year do you mean 2010 or 2009?0

Do the "long " Etape instead, anyone who thinks 208 km and 3000m climbing isn't worth doing needs their head examining! If you want the Alps then the Marmotte is 2 weeks earlier so quite doable together. At least I hope so.....0

The Marmotte is tougher, the longer climbs go on and on compared to the shorter climbs in the Pyrenees. The Marmotte has 1000m more of vertical gain during the day.0

The Marmotte is a loop, so you end up not far from where you started, making logistics relatively straightforward.
Never done an Etape, so can't comment, but I'd imagine it's a pain in the aris' starting in one place and finishing a hundred odd miles away.0
