Thinner spacers for headtube?

Hi All,
I recently bought an NC-17 Toro Pro stem from the CRC website and normal thickness spacers don't fit above the stem. Does anyone know where you can get hold of 1.1/8" spacers which have a maximum outside diameter of 34mm, as according to NC-17, this is the maximum thickness that will fit?
P.S. Is this a design fault?
Cheers,
Ian

Well 1.125" = 29.845mm, so you want spacers with a wall thickness of less than 2mm, which is pretty thin and will all but exclude carbon spacers. I'd expect you to be able to find some alu ones that'll fit though. Try Point One Racing, they do some very light ones, which are probably thin.
And no, it's not a design fault, as it's how they intended it, and you're not really achieving anything by having spacers above the stem (although it can ensure better clamping) it's an oversight though I'd say.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I need spacers above my stem to be able to tighten my whole front end up, unless I want to cut down my steering tube, which I don't really want to do as I sometimes use my Enduro for XC.
Also, if the steering tube is 1.1/8" or 29.845 and the max outside diameter of the spacer I need is 34mm, then don't I need a spacer that 's less than 4.155mm, and not less than 2mm as you stated?

2mm each side = 4mm across the whole diameter.
The point is though that you could just cut down your steerer, so it's not a design fault, you don't have to be able to run spacers on top for the stem to function, they've just overlooked that, which is slightly daft.0 -
That kind of stem is designed to be straight onto the headset for maximum stiffness. Hence theres not alot of point in having room for spacers above.A Flock of Birds

njee20,
Thanks for pointing out my deliberate mistake ;o)
I agree, it is a bit daft as virtually every other DH stem which attaches to the steering tube will fit normal spacers above it as far as I'm aware!
Looks like I'll be looking for some 2mm thick spacers as you suggested.
