4 bolt Crank Arm Compatibility?

Can I fit Race Face Crank arms, say Next Race Face Carbon Arms, in the place of Shimano XT Hollowtech II ones?

They are both four bolt set-up but surely it's not as simple as just removing the bolts and replacing like with like, or is it?

Both are 175mm but I'm not entirely sure about the BB on my existing set-up. I think that it's 68/73, whatever that means, but does that actually matter if I'm just replacing the crank arms?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the ignorance. I have looked at Sheldon and Park Tools but alas...

    if both are of the external version then yes.

    but that is only for the makes you mention. I.E. FR and shimano external BBs are the same specs.
