Anybody else tink this morning was just stupidly cold? Not looking forward to the journey home. :(

  • Yes, in Peterborough it was bitterly cold. I thought yesterday was cold, but today was significantly worse to the point where I mumbled several times "F*** it's cold......eeeuugh!"
  • It was cold this morning in London - still down at 2 Celsius at 10am - but it's warmed up quite a bit and the wind's lighter. It actually feels quite a bit warmer than it did yesterday.

It was my last day on shift yesterday and it was down to -1. Bought a pair of Spesh Sub Zero's a few months ago. Glad I did now.

Cold in Southampton too. TV said 6 degrees, but one of the women at work has a garden thermometer and said 1.5 degrees. I could beleive it.

Wore 4 layers on my body, and winter leggings with thermal gloves. I tried to show solidarity to another cyclist this morning by saying "aint it cold mate!" but my face was numb and it just slurred out.

I get in to work, moaning that my hands hurt and see another cyclist locking up his bike. Shorts and a T on!!! I told him he was crazy.

    Warmer than yesterday, no frost.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
  • My computer said 0 degrees at 7 am.

Set off to work at about 7:45 and it was extremely cold. About 5mins into my journey my face was in so much pain because of the cold.

Once i get paid I shall invest in some thicker gloves and perhaps a buff :)

I drove from Aviemore to Aberdeen today, 2-3" of snow lying next to the road at the Lecht ski centre.

    +1

Although I was poor so grabbed a bargain off ebay. It's bright red. One morning I came out of my garden with it in balaclava mode, and a little boy on his way to school stopped, looked at me, then started singing "Spiderman, spiderman...."

Not sure whether to be  or 8)
  • Decided I needed to buy something to keep my face warm after it nearly freezing on wednesday morning. The Buff looks really good and can be found on Amazon for about £10.50.

They also show something called the Oxford Comfy which looks like the same thing but in a triple pack for £13.

Anyone got any experience of them?

    Thanks.

If you spend the extra and get a merino buff they are longer than a standard buff which makes balaclava mode even better, I love mine. I gave oh my tog24 buff because I thought it was crap and bought the real thing instead, however she likes it as its good enough for her 3m cycle.

I've got a merino buff and a windstopper / merino one. The windstopper one is excellent and is one of the best pieces of kit I've ever bought, Just keeps you so warm.

Extra layer on Tuesday. Threw on the knee warmers on Wednesday. Gilet and winter gloves went on yesterday. Today was OK although if it gets any colder the Buff may come out next week... but not yet...I shall resist...

November issue of cycling + has a free buff (out now )

Coming home after night shift there has been a good frost around here, white out and the cycle path section was a bit slippy until i got back onto the road section of my commute and had to avoid a few patches of ice .

I use the buff mainly as a thin single layer hat as i find the skull caps to warm even in last winters cold.
When it was really cold i had one on my head and one around my neck like a scarf( i skanked a spare one of a mate with the mag )
