Raleigh Equipe seat post diameter, what is the size?

Hi,

I need to get a new seat post for the Equipe I've just picked up (see my other thread in special interest). Would anyone know what the seat post diameter size is so I can get replacement? The one it came with is not the right size and just drops in the tube.

Or, what would be the best way to measure without the correct tools to do so?

    The Flyer had a 25.4mm post. It was lower end than the Equipe, but may well have shared some dimensions.
    Vernier callipers might be called for.
