Was looking at Garmin's Edge 500 and I wondered if it was any good or if there are better alternatives?
No need for maps or immense training info I am not that hardcore, I just want a computer I can swap from bike-to-bike without faffing about with sensors, wires etc.
TIA

Depends on how accurate you want it to be.
The GPS on the Edge500 isnt that accurate overall for speed and distance when used on a MTB as it has a low sampling rate, you really need to get the speed and cadence sensors bundle as then it uses both data for more accurate info.
I decided to go with a Sigma Rox 9.0 bike computer after much looking, figured if I had to attach the sensors anyway I may as well just get a computer without the GPS, plus it was $100 cheaper.0 -
I picked up a Garmin Edge 605 for £120 on eBay, very impressed & if you don't need the cadence & HR makes more sense than the Edge 705.
If you get Open Cycle Map for £15 you have an ability to route. It's not as good as Memory Map for routing but seems to be a very accurate GPS, I had it sat next to my reliable Cycle Computer & matched it for the MPH, but was slightly different on the Mileage, I presume the GPS was more accurate.I'm over 6' and have quite a large head.0
