Stolen bikes

Strange turn of events.

Last Friday I was knocked off my bike. Consequently my road bike is at the workshop. As I'm not riding this week I brought my SS upstairs to tidy, and it's still mid-fettle.
So, for the first time in 6 months, neither bike is downstairs on the bike rack.

Last night people forced the lock downstairs (into the foyer area, not my flat itself) and stole 4 bikes belonging to neighbours.

So obviously have offered condolences to neighbours and it's a shitty thing to happen, but I'm just wowed at the timing of it all.

So Mr. dhope, can you account for your whereabouts over the night of the 20th...?

I take your bikes were insured anyways if they have both been down there?

that's pretty lucky. some scrote tried to kick the front door in to our shared hallway a few weeks back.

they never got in but they buggered the lock so badly neither could we.

now that's happened there's no way in hell I'd leave my bike in the hall for even a single evening now so I'm resigned to lumping it up and down the (very narrow) stairs every day.

    They will be

    Probably a grand's worth gone :(
Think it was two decent bikes and two BSOs that went.

  • Have any of you seen this site?

    http://www.bikerevolution.org/

    Seems like a good initiative.

My local council have started a campaign against cycle theft after news that over 2,000 bikes had been stolen in the past three years. Will be interesting to see how it goes:
