I live near Winchester and always wanted to do the South Downs Way from winchester. Just wanting to know if anyone has any insider information, tips/tricks past experiences etc?

Would look to do it easter time, failing that, next summer.

The south Downs is a greta ride, some people do it in day but I doubt they are human and some person did it there and back in day which is insane. For mere mortals like myself doing it over three days I found a good balance. Start in Winchester and the first day get to a village called Cocking we stayed in a B&B called the Moonlight Cottage, which is easily recommended. Next day is to a hamlet called Streat, we stayed in this B&B http://www.northacres-streat.co.uk, which I can't recommend enough, then the final day to Eastbourne. The first day you cover roughly 35 miles, 42 the second day and about 35 mile the last day.

Perfect thank you, exactly what i was looking for. I think we are aiming for 3 days so that plan seems spot on.
