In 2012, France's famous Alpe d'Huez climb will appear in the Giro d'Italia route for the first time, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. It will mark 60 years since its first appearance in the Tour de France in 1952 when Italian Fausto Coppi won.

The power of Cycle Racing Publicity.
My first touring holiday along the valley from Grenoble (railway station) to the Galibier as we rode through Bourg-d'Oisans the D'Huez wasn't known and not on the Radar.
Now they say it is famous. (to Cyclists and Skiers)
Nearly as good as the German Telekom (T-Mobile) that no one had heard of when it started trading 20 years ago.
Good stuff this cycle racing (with PED's or without)

They have had Giro stage finishes at Briancon before and to pop over the Lautaret and freewheel down (like TDF 2011) to Bourg-d'Oisans seems quite easy Logistics to me. (unless it snows)
