Component Hierachy

I will be looking to buy a road bike in the not too distant future, and coming from a mountain biking background, I was looking to for some clarification on components.
I know the order in which they get "better", but I am after some comparison. For instance, my mountain bike has a full Deore drivetrain, would I be right in thinking that 105 would be the equivalent in road bike terms?
The reason I am asking, is so I can get an idea of the value for money of the bikes I am looking at.

Shimano heirachy on the road is (from lowest to highest) Sora, Tiagra, 105, Ultegra and Dura Ace although it is complicated by there being several incarnations on Ultegra and Dura Ace I think.
SRAM is (I think) Apex, Rival, Force and Red
Campag I've lost track of.
Trying to compare one make with another doesn't really work though although someone will try.0 -
Campag goes: -
Xenon, Mirage, Veloce, Centaur (Formerly Daytona), Athena, Chorus, Record, Super Record.
Xenon I believe are finished, Not sure about Mirage.

2200/2300 comes before Sora.
http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/index.jsp lists the road group sets in order so I'm guessing the mountain bike ones there are in order too. Know nothing about MB groupsets so wouldn't know the RB equivalents.0 -
and Di2 comes after Dura Ace0

Also coming from a MTB background with XT on my bikes I aimed for Shimano 105/Ultegra , Campag Centaur/Athena or Sram Rival/Force - the bold option being my target for preferred components, but I felt (and still feel) that anything in this price bracket is going to match Deore XT build quality etc0

Thanks for the replies guys, helped cleared a few things up for me!
Was all a bit of confusing, as didn't really know which bikes were good value spec wise

Damn, I was hoping to find a good old fashioned slanging match about what component levels in one manufacturer's line up are equal to what ones in another... Haven't seen one of these for a while...0
