Hi people,
I've got some brand new (well done less than 20 miles) Conti Ultra Race Tyres (700 x 23C) and just wondering what peopels thoughts are of them as a winter tire?
I see people suggesting gatorskins, but conti recommend both of these models for training.
Will I be at a significant disadvantage running these over the winter rather than gators? Reason being I've got these tyres not doing anythnig at the moment and don't really wanna spend £50 on a new set unless I really have too.
Would the other option be looking at a heavy duty type inner tube as well?
Cheers,
Dru

I had the ultra's on from Feb to July this year and had about 10 visits but since changing to the gatorskins not one visit - well worth the investment especially with winter approaching - just hate the thought of changing in the cold and wet.
Sell the ultra's on ebay - maybe £15-20 for the pair (good for turbo trainers) - that will be 1 tyre bought

Is there a difference between gatorskins and doling gator skins?
Does it mean changing the tyres are easier with the folding version - or is there more too it?

lighter, easier to fit and thats about it.
ive got them on mine, feel a bit dead compared to what i took off, but if it stops me fixing another "P" in the cold / wet then i'll put up with it over the winter.0 -
I went for the Conti Four seasons - definitely a strong tyre, seems to run ok0
