after the frankly stunning success of the crudchucker, of which version 1.0 is still going strong and doing a sterling job, i thought id try a different approach to the front.

may i introduce nucky mutz lemonade bender.
creating using a 2 litre lemonade bottle, metal skewer, scissors and zip ties.
total cost £0.00 which makes the original seem a little over priced at 8 quid.

im gonna give it a try, ive removed the innertube neoguard to give this a fair test, and see if any changes are needed.

    Awesome/10!

    Good job, looks exactly the same as a the proper ones! Nice touch with the blue cable ties too.

    the zip tie colour was fluke, all i have in, but perfect match for the top cap. result

    version 2.0 might be a different colour.
    lilt = green
    tizer = red
    tango = black
    white lightening = blue

    Or for blue you could use the sprite zero bottles, sugar free ones or whatever they are. Saves you buying a bottle of white lightning. My vote would be blue, match the fork decals nicely.

    The absolute dog's. Just needs a Monster Energy sticker.

    Did I read it right that you have made something similar for the back?

    Looks neat, but how well does it work? I'd have guessed that it should stick out more of the front of the fork, instead of the rear, and it also looks long enough to catch the top tube when the fork compresses.

    i borrowed the shape from the official product, so its as close to this as i thought.

    plus if it does hit, i just change it, it was free.

    and the theory is that the mud that gets your face is thrown up between the crown and cross brace then you ride into it, this stops it plus is supposed to help keep the stanchions clean.

    my idea for the back was this innertube bodge.
    sceptics thought itd rip off first ride, but 2 months down the line its perfect, works too.
    collects carp then flings it when the suspension rebounds, genius.39692_423480944206_501389206_4554834_6053969_n.jpg

    Fair enough. I just seem to remember that the last mudguard I had, years ago, was one of those crud fenders that stick out from the front of the fork, and that stopped pretty much all the crap from flying into my eyes.

    those pseudo mx fenders look auful though imo.

    and as you can see from the picture, Giant designed it to be crud catcher proof by locating the gear cable with its stop, down the centre of the down tube.
  • Brilliant, think i might have a go at making one of those myself.

    If it works, I will be trying this. And I mean, really works, not like the downtube crudcatcher, which really doesn't work.

    Yeah I was looking to order one but they are out of stock of the clear version. Better make one myself :)

    Double orsum. You are wasted on this forum :)

    *goes off to shed with scissors, inner tube & tie wraps*
  • I can verify that the Muckynutz bender fenders REALLY do work, even though they look like they shouldn't. I've been using one for a year now and it's great.

    The home-made version looks identical to the new versions (with the slight lip on the front) so good work!
